Firm:

Envision Wealth Planning

Job Title:

President

Biography:

James Brewer, President of Envision Wealth Planning in Chicago, IL,  brings a multifaceted and passionate approach to help clients pursue their unique vision. It has been called part wealth planner, part life coach, part architect, part cheerleader. He focuses on crafting plans that incorporate and honor each client’s unique values. He developed the Envisioneering™ Financial Planning Process to help clients align their visions with their values, such as promoting sustainability, gender and racial equality.

James works tirelessly to help clients build their wealth visions, turning income into wealth. He helps clients manage the emotions that can creep up with the certainty of life changes and market conditions. His holistic approach typically appeals to professional women, doctors, medical professionals, small business owners and affluent pre-retirees.

When James was looking for a financial advisor before becoming one, he found it difficult to find one that knew much or cared to know about socially responsible, ESG investing, sustainability investing. He strongly believes that the road to his clients' financial life vision should align with their values, such as faith, pro-gender equality and sustainability. As an African American financial advisor, he brings unique sensitivities in working with clients from diverse money language backgrounds. As a fan of Brené Brown, he understands the feelings of shame and vulnerability that often come with money.

James is often called on to help various types of clients with complex issues, such as small business owners looking to hit the defined contribution limit (currently $53,000) in their SEP or 401(k) profit sharing plan, couples planning for early retirement using investments aligned with their social values, sustainability, gender and racial equality, volatile income earners and those with sudden money, like athletes, convert it into a sustainable lifestyle, and single or divorced professional women combat the ravages of inflation over a projected longer life span.

Brightscope recognized James as one of The Top 100 Social Media Financial Advisors in the US. He is frequently interviewed on the syndicated television program, Business First with Angela Miles. His thought leadership has been featured cited in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, US News, Think Advisor and Financial Advisor Magazine. He is an Adjunct Professor of Financial Planning for the College for Financial Planning preparing future CFP® professionals.

James holds an MBA and Masters of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His professional designations include CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) and Professional Plan Consultant™ (PPC™,) and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) professional.
