Find Stocks - To screen for stocks, click the Research tab at the top of any webpage, select Stocks and then choose Stock Screener. Define your custom criteria from six categories (market segment, price & volume, opinions, fundamentals, earnings & dividends and technicals) to narrow the universe of stocks.

Order Entry - To place a stock order, click the Trading tab from the top of any webpage and select Stocks. To place an order, enter the symbol, choose an order type (buy, sell or buy to cover), enter a quantity, choose a price type (e.g., market, limit, etc.) and select a term (e.g., good for day). Click the Preview button to review your trade before it gets sent to the market.

Portfolio & Account Management

Complete View - After logging into your E*TRADE account, you’ll be directed to the Complete View page, which provides a snapshot of your current balances and other information for all your E*TRADE accounts (you can also access this page by clicking the Accounts tab at the top of any page and selecting Complete View). Balances - The Balances tab lists real-time values for your account balances. Net account values appear by default; click the “+” sign next to Show Detailed Balances to expand the results. In either view you’ll be able to see the total market value of your securities, plus how much cash you have available for investments and withdrawals. View your alerts on the right side of the page, or click the “Set Alerts” link to create a new alert. There are also several helpful links in the Manage Your Account section, including those that allow you to wire funds, reinvest dividends and reorder checks.

Positions - Click on the Portfolios tab to view your net account value and open positions, sorted by symbol. For each symbol, you can view last price, change in price (by % and $), quantity (trade size), price paid, day’s gain, total gain and value, plus action buttons to buy and sell. Click on any symbol to view an intraday price chart and other important market data, including bid and ask size, 52-week range and ex-dividend date. Scroll down for Portfolio News, which displays market news related to your holdings.

Estimated Income - From the Portfolios tab, click the Estimated Income tab to view potential dividends, capital gains distributions, and bond interest and bond principal payments you may expect to receive based on your current E*TRADE account holdings. By default, the results for the next year are shown; however, you can select a different time period, such as the next two weeks or next six months. Click on the “Filters” link to sort by symbol/CUSIP and security type.

E-Trade 360 - The E*TRADE 360 tab is a customizable dashboard that lets you view, monitor and manage your accounts on a single screen. Click the CHOOSE YOUR FEATURES button at the top of the page to configure your dashboard and insert widgets for Accounts Summary, News & Video, Trading, Watch Lists, Alerts, Portfolios, Transfer Money, Detailed Balances, Quote Details and View Orders. Note: If you don’t see the tab, either search for “ETRADE 360” in the search box at the top of the page, or click on one of the other tabs within the Accounts tab (such as the Tax Center tab) to display the E*TRADE 360 tab.

Tax Center - Find your tax documents and other tax resources in the Tax Center tab. Filter by tax year and account to find important tax documents. Scroll down to view tax-related articles, such as “10 Steps to Tax Preparation,” plus videos and calculators. Click one of the tabs on the side of the page for other tax-related tips and tricks, including Cost Basis Resources, Retirement Offerings and Schedules, which lists upcoming important dates.

Transaction History - Click the Transaction History tab to view different types of transactions (e.g., deposits, withdrawals and trades) for the specified time period, such as the last seven days, last 30 days or previous quarter. A list displays the date, type of transaction, description and dollar amount for each transaction. Click on any highlighted description to view details, or to assign that transaction to a category, such as investments, retirement or tax refunds.

Trade Confirmations - The Trade Confirmations tab contains information about trade orders you have made. Search by account, and filter by date and ticker symbol. A list displays the trade date, description and principal amount. Click on any description to view a detailed report of the trade, which you can print or save to your computer. You can export a year’s worth of trade data to Microsoft Excel by clicking the link at the top of the page. Once the download is complete, you’ll be prompted to either open or save the file.

Knowledge - The E*TRADE website has educational resources to help investors and traders learn about a variety of investing-related topics. To access the Knowledge center, click the Research tab at the top of any webpage and select Education. The page is divided into three sections: The top section covers this month’s featured articles and videos. The next section lists articles and videos broken down by education category, such as investment products, retirement and portfolio planning. Finally, in-person and live webinar educational events are shown at the bottom of the page; click on any for more information and to register.

Community - The Community tab is a financial network where E*TRADE customers can exchange ideas and insights with other E*TRADE customers and financial professionals. The page has several modules, including Most Actively Traded, Most Widely Held, Community Opinions and the Most Popular Discussions. Click on any symbol to view price charts and other market data, or click a quote balloon in the Most Actively Traded and Community Opinions modules to view discussion threads.

Planning Tools - To access tools and calculators, click on the Plan & Invest tab at the top of any webpage and select Planning Tools. There are three sections – Retirement & Savings, Investment Selection and Portfolio Diversification & Analysis – and each lists various resources to help you plan, set goals and choose investments.  The Investment Selection section, for example, includes links to a stock screener, options chains and a bond yield calculator, to name a few.

Market Movers - The Market Movers tab displays the trading session’s most actively traded symbols, as well as the biggest gainers and losers by percentage and dollar amount. The top 20 DOW, NYSE, NASDAQ and NYSE MKT issues are shown for each of the five metrics (Actives, % Gainers, % Losers, $ Gainers and $ Losers), along with each stock’s real-time last price, today’s change (by $ and %), volume, high and low. There’s also a progress bar that represents the number of times a company has appeared in the news today (with links to the stories), so it’s easy to see which stocks are making headlines.

Market Statistics - The Market Statistics tab displays multi-colored bars that represent the number of advancing, declining and unchanged issues – plus the number of new highs and lows – for each of the three major U.S. stock exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ and NYSE MKT). The up, down and unchanged volumes are also shown. A handy table provides cross-market comparisons, and you can filter by major indices, broader indices, sectors, NYSE Arca SPDR’s, fixed-income products, commodities and currencies.

Market Calendar - Traders and investors like to stay abreast of potentially market-moving events. Search by symbol to find relevant events, or search by date to show all upcoming events.

Click on any sector for a closer look at the performance of relevant industries. A graph displays the relative performance of each sector versus the S&P 500 to provide broad view of the market. Overview - Click the Research tab on any webpage and select Futures to view daily charts of three popular futures contracts – the e-mini S&P 500 (ES), Gold (GC) and Crude Oil (CL) – plus a quote board with additional products. Research - To access the Stock Research section of the website, click the Research tab at the top of any webpage and select Stocks. At the top of the page, you can search research reports by recent releases, market cap or E*TRADE’s most popular, and you can filter the results by analyst. Click on any company to view its news page, or click on the PDF link to view the report. Scroll down to search upgrades and downgrades, as well as buy recommendations from SmartConsensus.

Overview - The Ideas tab under Research > Stocks is divided into three sections: Overview, Fundamental Strategies and Technical Strategies. By default, a list of undervalued companies appears at the top of the Overview tab; however, you can make a different selection – for example, overvalued, analyst downgrade or earnings expected – using the dropdown menu. Scroll down to find stocks using technical data that you define, such as stocks closing above their 13-day EMAs.

Fundamental Strategies - In the Fundamental Strategies tab, you can choose one of 28 different fundamental strategies to search for stocks – including Undervalued, Overvalued, Aggressive Small Cap, Analyst Downgrade, Analyst Picks, Analyst Upgrade, Dividend Declaration and Earnings Surprise. Each list contains relevant information such as dividend yield and EPS growth. Technical Strategies - In the Technical Strategies tab, you can search today’s technical signals by signal type (e.g., new high, new low), market cap and fundamentals. Analyst Research - Click on a company name or symbol from virtually any page to access that company’s news page. Alternatively, you can enter the ticker symbol in the Symbol search box at the top of any webpage. The company news page has eight tabs, including Analyst Research. In this tab, you’ll see real-time market data, such as last price, the day’s range and trading volume. Scroll down for analyst price targets (powered by TipRanks), as well as analyst recommendations and ratings.

Stock Snapshot - The Stock Snapshot tab is the default screen in the company’s news page. This provides an overview of one particular company, including real-time market data, an intraday chart, the latest headlines, analyst research, blogger sentiment and a company overview, including the company’s contact information and web address. There’s also a Quick Links section, where you’ll find links to add that company to your Watch List, view historical quotes and view your orders, to name a few.

Stock Charts - Click the Charts tab to view customizable charts of one or multiple symbols. Real-time market data appears at the top of the chart, along with BUY and SELL buttons for placing quick trades. Choose a charting interval and chart type (e.g., OHLC, candlestick), and add both upper and lower technical indicators. Select the Chart Tools button to draw your own trendlines, and click the SAVE SETTINGS button to name and save your configuration. Scroll down to view the latest headlines, press releases and commentary, and get more information in the Quick Links section.

Stock Fundamentals - The Fundamentals tab has real-time market data at the top of the page, along with BUY and SELL buttons for placing quick trades. Company information is divided into five tabs: Key Statistics, Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow and SEC Filings. The Key Statistics tab provides a financial overview of the company and displays such metrics as shareholder equity, valuation, management effectiveness, dividend, financial strength and growth rate.

Preview Order - After you fill out the order ticket, click the Preview button to review your trade before it gets sent to the market. The Preview page shows all the order details, along with estimated commissions and costs. Review your trade order information, and click Cancel Order to cancel the order, Change Order to edit the order, or Place Order to send it to the market.

Equities - Visit E*TRADE’s Investor Education Center to view popular educational resources. To learn more about stocks, click the Investing tab on the left side of the page and select Equities. Watchlist

Manage Watch Lists - To access the Watch Lists page, click the Accounts tab from the top of any webpage and select Watch Lists. To make or edit a Watch List, click the Manage Watch Lists button near the top of the page. To create a new list, click the Create New List button, name your list and then enter symbols and/or CUSIP numbers to populate the list. To edit a list, select the list you want to edit and either enter a new symbol/CUSIP and click the Add button, or click the “X” to remove a symbol. Click the Save and Close button to save your changes.

Market View - The default view for the Watch Lists page is the Market View, where you can view detailed price and volume data for the securities on your Watch List. Click on any symbol to view a company snapshot, including market data and basic fundamentals. Place a trade for any symbol by clicking the corresponding Trade button and remove a symbol from the list by clicking the “X” in that symbol’s row. Scroll down for news headlines related to the companies on your Watch List.

ETF Investing

Overview - To access the ETF Research section of the website, click the Research tab from the top of any webpage and select ETFs. By default, the Overview tab opens (there are five other tabs: All-Star ETFs, Commission-Free ETFs, ETF Screener, Comparison and Category Analysis). Do a Quick Search to find ETFs based on fund family, group, category, performance, expense ratio and Morningstar ratings. Scroll down to view a list of Most Actives, and links to investing tools and educational content.

Category Analysis - The Category Analysis tab shows percentage returns (YTD, 1 year, 3 year, 5 year and 10 year) for nine core categories of domestic ETFs (e.g., large value, small blend, etc.). Click Domestic Bond to view similar results for bond ETFs. Check out the Specialty Categories on the right side of the page to view top international, muni state bond and other specialty ETFs. Scroll down for fund category investing strategies, including the top five strategies based on Sharpe Ratio, Alpha and an annualized simple average total return.

Comparison - Click the Comparison tab to launch a comparison tool, which allows you to compare funds by entering up to five symbols in the box and clicking the GO button. The next screens shows a snapshot of the ETFs, including status, Morningstar rating, category and the number of funds in the category. Scroll down to view a performance chart, a $10K growth chart and performance analysis.

ETF Screener - The ETF Screener tab allows you to filter hundreds of ETFs based on criteria you select – such as fund category, Morningstar rating, expense ratio, previous close, yield and fund characteristics (e.g., index, socially responsible and diversified). Hover your mouse over any symbol to see a price chart and basic market data, click on the symbol to view that ETF’s news page and click the green BUY button to place a trade.

All-Star ETFs - Click the All-Star ETFs to see a list of leading ETFs selected by E*TRADE Capital Management, using criteria such as low expense ratio, tracking error, liquidity, style, purity, underlying holdings and how well the ETF represents the index it seeks to replicate. The ETFs chosen are passively managed, have at least six months of trading history and are sponsored by a well-balanced investment firm. The list is updated four times each year at the end of February, May, August and November. Hover your mouse over any symbol to see a price chart and basic market data, click on the symbol to view that ETF’s news page, and click the green BUY button to place a trade.

Comission-Free ETFs - You can buy and sell the ETFs listed on the Commission-Free ETFs tab without paying brokerage commissions. E*TRADE notes that, for margin customers, the ETFs purchased through the commission-free ETF program are not margin eligible for 30 days from the purchase date, and you may be charged a short-term trading fee on sales of participating ETFs held for fewer than 30 days. Overview - To access the Mutual Fund Research section of the website, click the Research tab from the top of any webpage and select Mutual Funds. This takes you to an overview page where you can do a quick search for funds, view news and insights, and access a variety of investing tools and educational resources.

Category Analysis - The Category Analysis tab shows percentage returns (YTD, 1 year, 3 year, 5 year and 10 year) for nine core categories of domestic mutual funds (e.g., large value, small blend, etc.). Click Domestic Bond to view similar results for bond funds. Check out the Specialty Categories on the right side of the page to view top international, money market, muni state bond and other specialty funds. Scroll down for fund category investing strategies, including the top five strategies based on Sharpe Ratio, Alpha and an annualized simple average total return.

Comparison - Click the Comparison tab to launch a comparison tool, where you can compare funds by entering up to five symbols in the box and clicking the GO button. Hover your mouse over any symbol to see a price chart and basic market data, click on the symbol to view that ETF’s news page and click the green BUY button to place a trade.
