Cherelyn is a graduate of Cass business school with a Masters in Property Valuation and Law. A former research analyst, she authored articles on equity valuations and equity market reviews for the Trinidad Express, the Caribbean Financial Quarterly and other Caribbean financial magazines; some of these were featured in the book Crisis, Crossroads and Change. In 2006 Elbourne co-authored the research paper Caribbean Mergers and Acquisition: Recent experiences and lessons (2006) which she later presented at local and regional conferences.
