He also spent four years as a commodities trader with British Petroleum. Additionally, his professional experience includes work in economic development with the U.S. Peace Corps in Central America. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
