Weld Royal is an award-winning freelance writer who has covered business, economics and finance for The New York Times, NYSE Euronext, NPR affiliate KTOO, Money magazine, Marketplace on American Public Media, Chief Executive magazine and AOL’s BloggingStocks.
Royal started off her career as a business journalist covering the burgeoning market for healthcare in China and then ran a magazine for one of Japan’s largest publishing companies on the business of Asia. Later, as senior editor for IndustryWeek, she wrote about global manufacturing. Hired as managing editor of Chief Executive, Royal focused the publication on the challenges and controversies faced by executives running the world’s publicly traded companies. For NYSE Euronext, she launched IPO Center to look at the policy debates, people and issues behind the process of going public.
Royal has a master’s degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
