Forbes Investors Advisory Institute: Financial Round Table - January 2008
WALLACE F. FORBES, CFA President, Forbes Investors Advisory Institute
It’s a pleasure and a privilege to welcome the participants in today’s Forbes Financial Round Table.
For these sessions, we invite several of the best-informed and most respected authorities in the investment community to join us and share their views on matters that they feel would be of interest and useful for guid¬ance to individual investors. That’s no small challenge during this period of unusual turbulence and uncer¬tainty in our securities markets. I know that your insights and guidance will be greatly appreciated and highly valued by the subscribers to the Forbes Special Situation Survey and the Forbes Growth Investor and to those who access our discussion on Forbes.com, Investopedia or other websites.
First, let me briefly introduce each of you to our readers. I will do so in the order in which you will make your opening comments.
Douglas Cohen is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley in charge of the Strategic Equity Portfolio Group.
Henry Mercer is President of Mercer Capital Advisors.
Byron Wien is Chief Investment Strategist of Pequot Capital Management.
Michael Holland is Chairman of Holland & Co., LLC.
Vahan Janjigian, Ph.D., CFA needs no introduction to Forbes audiences. He is V.P. & Executive Director of Forbes Investors Advisory Institute where he heads our analytical staff and is editor of the Forbes Special Situation Survey, the Forbes Growth Investor and the Forbes Stock Market Course.
In order to retain the informal nature of our discussion, editing of the transcript has been limited to the minimum required to transition from spoken dialog to the written word.
Without further ado, Doug, would you lead off?
