Valentine's Day has just passed and you may still be feeling pressure wondering if you surprised your sweetheart with just the right gift. While your budget was probably much smaller than the average celebrity, imagine just how much love money could buy if price was no object. The following celebrities treated their sweethearts to over-the-top expensive gifts - but did these grand gestures keep the couples together?

Howard Stern
Sirius radio megastar Howard Stern was well-known for lamenting life as an average married man on his morning radio show. He divorced ex-wife Alison Stern in 2001 after over 20 years of marriage and quickly jumped into the dating scene. (Looking for more ways to sweep her off her feet with a small amount of cash? However, monogamy apparently still held an attraction for the notorious shock jock. He designed and gave girlfriend Beth Ostrosky a 5.2 carat emerald-cut engagement ring valued at over $250,000 on Valentine's Day 2007. She said "yes" and the couple married on October 3, 2008. Sixteen months later the couple is still together.

George Clooney
The two-time winner of People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" title should know a thing or two about romance. Two years ago he laid out a cool $40,000 for girlfriend Sarah Larson on a hotel suite - and not just any suite - it was for a night at the Hugh Hefner Sky Village in Las Vegas's Playboy Tower at the Palms Casino Resort. The couple also enjoyed dinner at the exclusive Nove restaurant and watching the Cirque Du Soleil tribute show to the Beatles at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.

While the couple was reportedly seen happily in love, singing and dancing as they waited for their limousine ride back to the hotel, the love was not meant to last. They broke up a year later. Today he is involved with Italian TV broadcaster Elisabetta Canalis. No word on what their plans for Valentine's Day this year were.

Katy Perry
Former gospel singer turned "I Kissed a Girl" chanteuse Perry became engaged to comic actor Russell Brand a month ago. Word on the street is that she has purchased him a lilac-colored Bentley Brooklands for this year's Valentine's Day festivities. The base price for a 2009 model is nearly $341,000. And we're sure that the pop star will want to throw in a few extras.

Vince Vaughn
After enduring a paparazzi-hounded relationship with former Friends star (and Brad Pitt's ex) Jennifer Aniston, the "Wedding Crashers" movie star Vaughn found true love - ironically enough - at a wedding.

Less than a year after meeting Canadian real estate agent Kyla Weber, Vaughn proposed with a $125,000 4-carat diamond ring set in platinum. She said "yes" and then said "I do" on January 2. No word on this year's Valentine's Day gift, although a wedding is awfully hard to top. (Getting married? Be sure you know how this will affect your finances. Jordan Bratman
Music executive Jordan Bratman met former Disney star Christina Aguilera in 2002. He proposed on Valentine's Day three years later in Carmel, California and gave her a 5-carat diamond and platinum engagement ring. They married later that fall and today the Grammy award winner and her husband are parents to a two-year old son, Max.
