There is plenty of scheduled event risk for the US, European and Asian trading sessions this coming week. That should gain the interest of traders from any region to either illustrate sound trading practices around event risk (which most people seek out) or to offer an example of the volatility that can be found in the FX market for the uninitiated.

The FOMC Rate Decision is top risk this week and is therefore hosted in DailyFX-Plus. After the Fed unexpectedly decided to defer its Taper at the September meeting and given the government shutdown through the first half of October, a Bloomberg News economist consensus is now expecting the first reduction in QE3 will not occur until March of next year.

That is a severe shift in the dollar’s fundamental health. This has put the dollar under pressure, and it also establishes a heavily skewed bias (bearish). Should anything in this event (or surrounding data) suggest the central bank will still consider a Taper in December, there would be a quick rally in store for the dollar.
