FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Being the last week of the year, with the weekend ahead to give space for US fiscal cliff talks, expectations run higher on Friday. The House of Representatives will meet in a previously-unscheduled session on Sunday, while President Obama will meet today with Democratic and Republican leaders.

Japan's Nikkei Stock Average (+0.70%), South Korea's Kospi (+0.49%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng (+0.11%) and Mainland China's Shanghai Composite (+1.19%) are higher, like other Asian indexes.

Futures for the German DAX 30 (+0.11%) and the French CAC 40 (+0.18%) are signaling a higher opening ahead of French GDP, Spanish Retail Sales, and Italian PPI data. US futures are, however, trading lower at this point of time. WTI crude oil gains +0.46%, at $91.46, and Gold drowns -0.07%, at $1662.
