Fxstreet.com (Barcelona) - Emmanuel Ng of OCBC Bank notes that USD climbed across the board on Friday as talk of a Fed tapering by September resumed following balanced to positive comments from the Fed’s Stein, and a better than expected June Uni of Michigan consumer confidence reading.

Elsewhere, he notes that the Fed’s Lacker (non-voter) also noted that investors should brace for more volatility as markets digest prospects of a tapering. Overall, he see that markets had to contend with both the hawks and the doves from the Fed last week but the parting shots from Lacker and Stein on Friday may see the dollar start the week on a supported footing. Further, despite the truncated week in the US where there are Independance Day celebrations, he feels that this week may prove eventful for markets, given the deluge of data at the onset on the month, culminating with US NFP´s on Friday.
