FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Commodities currencies saw another week of rising net longs, with AUD longs increasing by $2.1bn and CAD longs climbing by $2.3bn in the week ending Tuesday, says Nomura strategist. "EUR short positions also declined by nearly $2bn this week, bringing the net short position in EUR below $20bn for the first time in almost 4 months (before the Greek elections)." It is important to note, however, as Nomura points "that this data only covers the week up to Tuesday, and the Fed minutes released on Wednesday may have caused a significant shift in investor appetites since then, which can be seen in our real-time estimates of JPY and EUR positions."
