FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The LDP, Japan's government major opposition party, continues to enjoy a significant lead after updated surveys published over the weekend, Yujiro Goto, analyst at Nomura, said. The news reassure Yen shorts over the potential radical easing policies to come by the BoJ, as LDP's leader Mr. Abe has vowed in a number of occasions.

From Nomura's Mr. Goto: "Asahi, Yomiuri, and Kyodo conducted surveys and updated their assessment of voters' preferred parties from a week ago. The DPJ's popularity inched down in all three polls while the popularity of JRP, a party led by ex-Tokyo Governor Ishihara and Osaka Mayor Hashimoto, increased. The LDP's popularity stayed at the same level as a week ago. The LDP still looks likely to be the first party in the upcoming general election while the DPJ is in a close race with the JRP for second place. Averaging the three poll results suggests the JRP is now slightly more popular than the DPJ."
