Forex: USD/JPY makes new high above 82.50

FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The dollar extended gains and printed a fresh 7-month high versus the yen after data showed US jobless claims declined to 410,000 last week, meeting analysts' expectations.

USDJPY broke above previous highs and printed its strongest level since early April at 82.52. At time of writing, USDJPY is quoting at the 82.50 zone, recording a 1.1% gain on the day.

USDJPY has risen in the last 6 days accumulating over 320 pips, propelled by expectations the BoJ would ease its policy further after the main opposition party of Japan win the elections on Dec 16.

As for technical levels, immediate resistances are seen at the 82.55/60 area (early Apr highs) and 83.00 (psychological level), while supports could now be found at 82.15 (intraday level) and 82.00 (psychological level).
