Highest-Grossing Musicals

It's not cheap to produce a Broadway musical. One of the most talked about new musicals, "Spider Man, Turn off the Dark," cost $75 million to stage, according to the New York Times. While that is one of the most expensive shows ever staged, a price tag of $10 to $15 million is normal for feature musicals. Broadway producers report that many musicals struggle to break even on an annual basis.
