Recently, Broadcom Corporation (BRCM) aunched the industry's first System-on-a-Chip (SoC) devices with the potential of 5G WiFi. These chips enable fastest and most reliable Gigabit connectivity for home and small/medium business (SMB) networks.

These new SoCs from Broadcom combine a high performance processor, Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch, GbE physical layer transceivers (PHYs), USB 3.0 and traffic accelerators all on a single chip.

Broadcom is well positioned in the fast-growing wired and wireless communications markets, and provides cutting-edge solutions for a growing number of connected users, who are demanding more content and bandwidth.

These chips will complement the company's full line of 5G WiFi 802.11ac solutions. With the ever-growing demand for wireless connectivity ubiquitously, there is increasing reliance on wireless networks, which in turn, stresses the legacy 802.11a/b/g/n networks. The new 5G WiFi enables mobile device users to stream digital content between devices faster, and simultaneously connect more wireless devices to home and enterprise networks, while conserving battery power.

Earlier, Skyworks Solutions Inc. (SWKS) announced that it commenced volume production of several high performance RF solutions, which are expected to support Broadcom's 5G WiFi chips. These also include minicards for access points, routers and customer premise equipment.

Skyworks is optimistic about its partner Broadcom's revolutionary wireless technology given its ubiquitous presence. Consumers now want high-definition video at high speed on multiple devices, anywhere and everywhere in the house - be it TV, or getting transferred to tablets and smartphones. In order to address this demand, Broadcom is actively working with Skyworks to create 5G WiFi products of the best capability.

We continue to maintain a Neutral recommendation on Broadcom Corporation. Our recommendation is supported by a Zacks #3 Rank, which translates into a short-term rating of Hold.
