Definition of 'TMX Group'
An exchange group that owns and operates several businesses involved in trading in Canada. The TMX Group, through its subsidiaries, operates derivative, energy, cash and equity trading facilities. The group also provides other financial services such as data products and clearing facilities. It is headquartered in Toronto, but has several offices throughout Canada.

The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) is the most notable of TMX's subsidiaries. The group also includes the Montreal Exchange, the TSX Venture Exchange, Shorcan and NGX, among others. The TMX Group was previously known as the TSX Group before June 11, 2008, when the TMX name was officially approved by shareholders.
