Dave is a Certified Financial Planner and founding partner of Confluence Financial Advisors, a fee-only financial planning firm in Boulder, Colorado.

After working as a consultant and financial planner for other firms, Dave opened Yellowstone Financial in 2007 to improve the financial lives of his clients directly. In 2016, he and Judy McNarymerged their fee-only financial advisory firms to launch Confluence Financial Advisors.

As a member of NAPFA, the national organization of fee-only financial planners, Dave is held to the industry’s highest ethical standards. Additionally, NAPFA members annually take twice the number of continuing education hours as the CFP board requires. Dave is the former President and current member of the Alliance of Comprehensive Planners, a nationwide group that specializes in offering comprehensive financial planning.  He is also admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service and gives advice on tax matters.

Dave has been profiled in the Wall Street Journal online and quoted by Business Week and other financial publications. He has been the personal finance columnist for the Boulder Daily Camera and other newspapers since 2008 with over 200 columns published.

Dave is an adjunct professor for the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder, President of the Boulder Valley Rotary Club, and has served as a treasurer and trustee for local philanthropic organizations. Dave enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons and is an avid trail runner, hiker, and skier.  

Dave resides in Boulder where he and the Confluence Financial Advisors team continue to build relationships with clients across the country to help them achieve financial independence and realize their personal goals and dreams.
