Matrix clients benefit from Gile Almond's extensive experience spanning three decades, including time spent with the Internal Revenue Service, national and local CPA firms, and as owner of a fee-only wealth management firm he co-founded in 1990. He graduated from the University of North Carolina – Wilmington, earning a B.S. in Accounting and subsequently became a CPA (NC #14068, SC #3084) and later added the PFS (Personal Financial Specialist) designation, achieving the nation’s highest score on the qualifying exam. He completed an educational program through the College of Financial Planning and has been awarded the Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) designation. In addition, Giles completed an investment management educational program at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania leading to the CIMA® (Certified Investment Management Analyst) designation awarded by the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
Giles has been rated among the best advisors in the country by several national publications. Worth magazine rated him as one of the nation’s top advisors in 1994, 1999, 2001, and 2002, while Medical Economics has rated him as a ‘top financial advisor for doctors’ consecutively since the year 2000. In addition, Charlotte magazine has rated Giles as a FIVE STAR Best in Client Satisfaction Wealth Manager for multiple years. As well, Giles received the Five Star Advisor rating from the Paladin Registry in 2007, and in 2010 was awarded the Financial Advisory Due Diligence (FADD™) certification after successfully completing Paladin's extensive background check process. Giles has periodically been quoted in the media in such publications as the Los Angeles Times, Medical Economics, Financial Planning magazine, Black Enterprise, Kiplinger’s Mutual Funds, The Physician’s Personal Advisory, and SmartMoney. He has presented at numerous conferences and is a former adjunct faculty member at the CFP® program at Queens University.
Giles is a NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors) registered advisor, served on its National Board as Treasurer, and is currently a member of the Finance Committee. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Kingdom Advisors, and the Charlotte Estate Planning Council.
In addition to his work promoting sound financial planning and investing, Giles has spent a number of years on the Steering Committee of Queens University Estate Planners Day and is a long time elder at Central Church of God, serving on the Finance Committee.
