David J. Fernandez, CFP®, is a Financial Advisor with over twenty years of experience in the financial planning and investment advisory industry. He is the founder of Wealth Engineering, LLC, a Fee-Only Registered Investment Advisor Firm in Scottsdale, Arizona. 

David graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors degree in Finance. He completed his Financial Planning Certificate from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado and has passed the board examination earning the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation. David has also completed numerous NASD and regulatory licenses. 

Prior to founding Wealth Engineering, LLC, David was an Investment Manager and Financial Planner with The Vanguard Group, where he worked with a wide range of high net worth individuals and families. 

David's primary focus is helping pre-retirees and post-retirees make the best use of their financial resources.  Whether it is pre-retirement wealth accumulation or post-retirement wealth distribution, David enjoys managing and coordinating his client's taxable assets, 401(k)s, 403(b)s, IRAs, Roth IRAs, pension plans, deferred compensation, annuities, and other financial resources to help them meet their long-term financial goals.  Once client's reach retirement and the wealth distribution phase, David through his financial planning and investment management process, will coordinate a client's financial resources along with Social Security into a monthly retirement paycheck, so clients can efficiently pay monthly bills, meet their long-term financial goals and enjoy financial peace of mind.   

David is considered an expert in his field and has been widely quoted in various national and local media such as: The Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, MSN Money, Business Week, Dow Jones Market Watch, The Arizona Republic, Index Universe, Research Magazine, Financial Advisor Magazine and Investment News.  

David has participated in Kiplinger Magazine’s Hotline assisting their readership with financial concerns. He has also participated in The Arizona Republic’s Money Line, and the Financial Planning Association’s Financial Planning Week, which are similar public outreach services. 

David is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, a former director and current member of the Financial Planning Association, and a member of the Central Arizona Estate Planning Council.
