Trilogy Financial

Job Title:

Vice President of Advance Planning

As Vice President of Advanced Planning at Trilogy Financial Services Sean Covi has three main areas of emphasis.

First, he works with businesses and their tax planners to help them implement expense controls to reduce operational costs with an emphasis on improving profit and performance.  In joint work with other professionals, he also focuses on strategic tax mitigation and helping business owners prepare and utilize proper exit strategies when they wish to sell their business.  Sean Covi also sets up custom, individualized supplemental executive retirement plans for business owners and key executives that can be implemented on a discretionary basis with few limits or funding restrictions in order to allow for potentially larger contributions and future benefits.

Secondly Sean Covi is a retirement distribution professional that seeks to reduce natural emotional biases by using the results of mathematical and scientific analysis to deliver inflation adjusted, tax efficient retirement income plans: One in four married seniors currently age 65 will live to age 98*.  What would happen to their lifestyle or comfort if someone chose an inappropriate withdrawal rate or asset allocation during retirement and then ran out of savings before running out of life?  Sean helps educate clients on how to navigate 5 common fears and 5 real financial risks in retirement.

Sean Covi’s third area of emphasis is meeting the financial demands of clients’ advanced age healthcare decisions and their human dignity needs as they age.  Many don’t think about this but every person alive today needed long-term care for daily needs when they were born.  Fast forward to retirement age and approximately 70%** of seniors will need help with normal daily living activities.  This time our parents won’t be able to deliver it again for us.  The cost is often large and can be a critical, non-recoverable financial mistake or failure to a retirement income plan if not addressed in advance.  Sean Covi helps clients by identifying how they can have many types of Long-Term Care costs and services covered.

Sean Covi began his career in 1995 as a Financial Advisor and is a founding member of the leadership team at Trilogy, having also performed in the capacity of Managing Partner and Regional Vice President for Trilogy.  In addition to holding the series 7, 24, 51, 63 and 65 securities licenses, Sean earned his Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designations, which means he has met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of each and has passed the CFP® Board Certification Examination.  His experience also includes business cost remediation, business owner and executive benefit programs, corporate risk management, financial planning, insurance, investments, estate planning, tax planning, retirement planning and employee benefit programs.  With a focus on helping people keep more of what they earn and save, Sean strives to make a substantial difference in the personal, professional and philanthropic lives of others.

Sean Covi lives and thrives in Denver, Colorado.  In addition to enjoying music, sports, theater and culinary events, he often spends time outdoors in the Rocky Mountains with his family.
