Next Steps Financial Planning, LLC

Job Title:

Financial Planner

Antowoine Winters spent ten years working for the Internal Revenue Service prior to leaving to start his own firm. After seeing so many individuals fall victim to unscrupulous financial advisors providing poor or even fraudulent financial guidance, he decided to leave the Service to run a practice where he can be an advocate for the average American citizen. He will be your first line of defense by providing sound financial advice to help keep your financial life on track and your financial goals moving forward.

Antowoine deeply enjoys working with musicians and other freelancers as they have a variety of unique issues that need to be addressed. Most are putting together benefits and resources across a variety of different areas that were not made to work together. He can help make sure that clients can make informed decisions about how to put together their financial life and what next steps need to be taken to ensure a smooth life outside of their finances.

As a former government employee and the husband of a teacher, Antowoine understands just how complicated benefit packages can be when trying to make them work together. Many people, particularly governmental and educational employees, find themselves mired in benefits that they may not understand or see the value in. Some benefits are only offered once unless something serious changes in your family life and even then, with narrow windows to assess the change and decide which benefits to accept, change, or drop.

Antowoine finds a deep sense of accomplishment and value in his ability to help clients as they transition through stages of life and levels in their career path. By working together, Antowoine can apply his knowledge and experience and your goals and values to make a future that’s truly worthy as a next step.

When not helping clients make sure all the parts of their financial lives are moving in concert, Antowoine can be found playing his Bassoon with local music ensembles or spending time with his family watching his son play in various youth sports programs.

Should I downsize my apartment so that I can focus on paying off my credit card debt, 401(k) loan and car payment?

Congratulations, on having the determination to keep working towards this goal.  Moving in with a roommate might be helpful in reducing costs but just make sure that you address whatever lead to the debt.  One additional recommendation that might be helpful is to refinance your credit card debt.  If you can get a lower rate while you pay it off that will help you to pay it off faster.  Just make sure to keep thinking "big picture" and working towards what's important for you in your financial life.  Hope this helps.
