As your SunTrust Investment Services Private Financial Advisor, Trey Smith brings those qualities and more, including insightful advice and in-depth knowledge. Trey offers clients more than 10 years of investment experience. He works collaboratively with clients to assess their financial situation, goals and objectives, determine risk tolerance, and form and execute an appropriate investment plan to obtain measurable results.

With the support of Financial Consultants, Shaun Rowles and Steve Laughter, Investment Associates, Sean Keane and Grant Cobb and Administrative Associate, Crystal Morgan, Trey helps clients by focusing on the goals they value most. He believes that only through expanding your knowledge base can you better assess the needs of the client and the ever changing market and economy. For this reason, in addition to his B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois and his CFP, ChFC, CRPC, CIMA, and CPWA certifications, he also completed the Executive MBA program at Vanderbilt University.

Trey has been active in several community organizations and has been one of the acting class chairs for Harding Academy’s annual fund. Trey is also a member of the Financial Planning Association. In addition to having published several articles on CNBC.com, he has been a guest lecturer at Vanderbilt University, and is a preferred speaker for the National Business Institute. Trey also completed his second book last year, "Money Does Grow on Trees: Family Trees”, the second in his "Wealth & Family Book Series".

In addition to recently being chosen as one of Barron’s Top Financial Advisors, he also was recognized by Financial Times as a FT 400 Top Financial Advisor for 2016.In his spare time, Trey enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Dianne, have 2 daughters, Katelyn and Larissa.
