If you have disability benefits in the United States, but are shown to own property in another country, will your disability benefits in the United States change?
My mother receives disability benefits in the United States. My father has dual citizenship in Vietnam and the United States. He wants to buy a house in Vietnam and include my mother's name on the deed. They want to be able to spend six months in the United States and six months in Vietnam every year. If she owns property or land in Vietnam, will her disability benefits change in the United States?
This is an interesting question. To the best of my knowledge where your mother lives should have no material impact on her disability insurance payments. Makes it even less cloudy since she will maintain a property and banking accounts in the USA. Quite frankly I don't believe there is even information to share with the insurance company as long as her medical situation still deems her to be fully disabled. The fact she'll own property in another country really shouldn't be in the insurance companies periphery.
