Which online program would you recommend to become a financial advisor?
Are there any online programs or sites that can aid in my goal to become a financial advisor?
The most well known and respected certification for 'financial advisors' is the CFP (Certified Financial Planner). Check out their website to learn more and get started here!
Congratulations on making a career decision that can lead you to deeply satifying work that can also be financially remunerative. Now, a financial advisor is a big category and as I'm sure you know there are lots of accreditations and badges you can receive along the way. So it depends what exactly are your goals with financial advising. Do you want to trade securities? Sell life insurance? Be exclusively client-facing and focus on comprehensive planning? Or if you are extremely ambitious, all of the above? For me, being a financial advisor means being a CFP, which is the gold standard of the industry when it comes to comprehensive planning. The College of Financial Planning in Colorado created the CFP certification in 1972 and is well-respected. See more here: http://www.cffpinfo.com/cfp/. For the CFP exam prep, I used Zahn, which was super for breadth and depth of curriculum, real engagement with the materials, and efficiency. See more here: http://www.kenzahn.com/Default.aspx. Good luck!
Hi, it is wonderful that you are seeking to become an adviser.
One thing you want to consider is not just building a book of business, but to build an agency so that it is not just you generating revenue.
I recommend getting licensed via Kaplan Financial. They have all the tools you need to study and get licensed for securities and insurance.
I also recommend checking out my website at www.rogersilveraonline.com to view my vision for financial literacy and what opportunities you may have available to you.
I used the Kaplan program which has a combination of a book and worthwhile online questions. Disclosure: we are distant cousins. I am sure that there are other worthwhile programs to prepare for your Series 65 exam which is the key step in qualifying as a registered investment advisor.
