Arizona School of Real Estate & Business (ASREB) is a real estate school with four campuses: the main campus in Scottsdale, Tucson, Glendale, and Surprise. Its focus is providing a high-quality real estate education, in an easy-to-understand format, to students who want to work in the real estate industry within the state. 

Pros Explained

• Access to instructors to ask questions: The courses offer plenty of opportunities to ask the instructors questions, including during livestream classes.
• 30-day refund policy: If you can’t make the class or change your mind about taking it, you can get a refund within 30 days of registering, as long as you haven’t started the class. Keep in mind that processing fees may apply to in-person classroom refunds.  
• Textbooks included: No need to worry about purchasing additional materials or not having the right books. Textbooks are included with all pre-licensing real estate courses. 

Cons Explained

• No hybrid learning format options: You must choose to take a course on-campus, livestream online, or self-paced online, but you can’t take some of one method and some of the other.   
• Only offered in one state: ASREB only offers classes in Arizona so it may not be for you if you want to be licensed in multiple states or are planning to work outside of Arizona. 
• Limited customer service hours: The call center closes at 6 p.m. on weekdays, 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and isn’t open on Sundays. You won’t be able to get questions answered after hours. 

Available Courses

Arizona School of Real Estate & Business offers Arizona real estate courses including salesperson and broker pre-licensing courses, exam prep, continuing education courses, assistant, mortgage, and appraiser classes. Additionally, a course for instructor development is offered. 

Salesperson Pre-Licensing

Salesperson pre-licensing courses are offered in three formats: school campus, livestream, or self-paced online. A textbook is included with all of the course packages. Ninety hours of coursework is offered plus six hours of Introduction to Contract Writing, both of which are required to successfully complete the real estate salesperson (agent) license requirements. You can choose from three different packages which are priced at $758, $899, and $999, though there are often promotional discounts of a few hundred dollars going on. The second and third tiers include exam prep and the top tier also includes marketing tools with 18 hours of continuing education. Online and on-campus prices are the same. 

Broker Pre-Licensing 

Broker pre-licensing courses are offered in the form of two packages at ASREB. They both contain the required 90 hours of educational credits, textbooks, and proctored exams. The top tier also includes a broker management clinic course. This is required for some brokers including those that are new licensees and those that are going to be self-employed. This additional course helps refine management skills and tactics. Courses can be taken online either as a live stream or self-paced. All formats are the same price of either $649 or $729. 

Exam Prep

Exam prep can be purchased on its own or can be included in a salesperson or broker prelicensing package. These offerings can help you practice and review for the licensing exam. You can take exam prep classes online and it’s only available for Arizona real estate licenses. Choose from vocabulary flashcards, a math review, or full exam prep courses which include full curriculum review, math concepts, practice tests, and test-taking tips. Flashcards start at $25 and exam prep courses range from $89 to $125 and the math review costs $59.

Continuing Education

You can take one continuing education class at a time or purchase a salesperson package of 24 hours or a broker package of 30 hours. Packages for salespeople are $175 and broker packages are $220. Purchasing a package can save you up to $45.  Continuing education classes are also offered online either on livestream or self-paced and in-person. Individual courses are typically for three credit hours and usually cost $25 to $59. These courses include topics such as professional conduct, contracts, and reverse mortgages.  

Course Format

Courses for Arizona real estate professionals are offered either online or in a classroom. ASREB has two online formats: livestream and self-paced. Livestream is basically like a virtual classroom and you will need to log on at a certain time. With self-paced learning, you can complete the course on your own schedule with no virtual classrooms, but instead, you will have materials to study and videos to watch, as well as practice questions, vocabulary, and math concept reviews. 

Instructors

All of the instructors at Arizona School of Real Estate & Business are industry professionals with real world experience. For instance, a real estate appraiser instructor will also be a licensed appraiser who has experience in the field. Instructors may respond to questions during business hours. Students have the opportunity to ask them questions during the course as well.

Reputation

Arizona School of Real Estate & Business has a positive reputation in the Arizona communities that it serves. It’s not accredited by an independent institution such as ARELLO which gives accreditation to real estate schools that meet certain standards. However, it does have overall positive reviews on its website from past students including those praising the user-friendly website and the knowledgeable and professional instructors and customer service agents. 

Price

Arizona School of Real Estate & Business doesn’t offer free trials or money-back guarantees, but it does offer a 30-day refund policy. Keep in mind that fees may be deducted from your refund depending on the class you are enrolled in and the format. It’s best to contact the school directly for specific refund policy procedures. 

Pre-licensing salesperson course packages are $758 for a basic package with the required 90 credit hours and the six-hour Intro to Contract Writing course. It also includes the ability ask instructors questions, a proctored exam, a textbook, exam prep, and employment networking opportunities. The next tier is the career start package for $899. It includes everything from the basic package plus an exam prep course and online exam prep materials. The top tier package is $999 and includes everything from the other packages plus an 18-hour continuing education package, interview workshop, math review, access to all formats, and flashcards. There are usually discounts for these courses so be sure to check the website for up to date pricing.

Broker pre-licensing packages are $649 and $729. The less expensive package includes 90 hours of education, course materials, a textbook, and a proctored final exam. The higher-end package includes all of those things plus a broker management clinic course.

Exam prep is included in most packages, but can also be purchased separately in the form of flashcards, math review, or a full exam prep course. Flashcards start at $25, math review cost $59, and a full exam prep course sold on its own is $89 to $125. Continuing education courses can also be purchased on their own usually for $25 to $59 or as packages from $175 to $220.

Kaplan is one of the most well-known online educational providers offering live-online and on-demand real estate licensing, exam prep, and continuing education courses. We compared Kaplan and Arizona School of Real Estate & Business because both schools are Arizona-approved providers. ASREB is limited, only offering classes for Arizona licensing while Kaplan offers online courses for all 50 states. If you want an in-person class in Arizona, ASREB is the place to go.

However, we feel Kaplan is the best option in most cases because you can pick from hundreds of course topics, tuition is affordable, and it has a reputation as a top online education provider with a longstanding history.
