Investment Approach

Allianz Global Investors combines a global network of investment professionals on-site in local markets around the world with a dedicated staff of quantitative analysts, economists and strategists to produce the deep insights the firm's portfolio managers rely on to set investment strategy. The firm's operations are founded on an internal information technology platform that enables fast access to the latest data, research and analysis produced across the firm's global operations. Its employees are thus able to communicate insights, transfer understanding and discuss local and global perspectives across the network continually to identify new opportunities and risks as they emerge.

The Allianz Global Investors Grassroots Research program serves as the foundation of the firm's local research efforts. The program employs more than 300 field investigators around the world to conduct hundreds of focused studies on local companies and industries, producing proprietary information that immediately begins flowing across the organization. A separate analyst group in the firm conducts more than 5,000 individual company meetings around the world every year. Other teams specialize in sector analysis, quantitative and data analysis, alternative investments and risk analysis. Experienced portfolio managers leverage these diverse sources of understanding to guide investment decisions.

Andreas Utermann has been announced as her replacement as global CEO.

Utermann is Allianz Global Investors' chief investment officer (CIO), a position he has held since 2011. He is responsible for the firm's investment products, overseeing investment policy and strategy. After Utermann becomes global CEO for the firm, he is to retain his CIO title and its related responsibilities.
