Erika Hearthway is an experienced editor, fact-checker, and professional linguist. In addition to her fact-checking work for Investopedia and The Balance, Erika has worked as a content marketer for ComplyAdvantage. There she researched and wrote about complex topics relating to anti-money laundering compliance, sanctions, and financial crimes.

Using her skills as a translator and linguist, Erika has assisted in organizing trade missions to Chile. She volunteered as an interpreter at the 2012 Olympic Games in London for Spanish-speaking dignitaries, athletes, and press. Erika has also taught introductory language translation strategies to students at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.


Erika received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master of Arts degree in Translation and Localization Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.
