The Idaho Real Estate School is not one of our top-rated real estate schools. You can review our list of the best online real estate schools for what we think are better options.

The Idaho Real Estate School offers pre-licensing courses for real estate agents and brokers within Idaho. It also offers post-licensing courses and continuing education classes. Classes are live-online via Zoom and in-person at its Boise, Idaho, headquarters. You can choose day or night pre-licensing classes to fit your schedule. The website has student resources and an online bookstore.

Pros Explained

  • Multiple class formats: Pre-licensing courses are taught live-online and in-person. Post-licensing classes are taught live-online and in-person, and continuing education classes are taught live-online, in-person, and self-paced online.
  • Day and night classes: Choose daytime or evening classes to work around your schedule. They are the same price, and schedules are posted online.
  • Student resources: The school’s website has helpful student resources including FAQs, licensing information and links, and agent checklists.

Cons Explained

  • Pre-licensing classes only in one state: Continuing education classes are offered in Idaho and Washington, but pre-licensing classes are only offered in Idaho. So if you want to be licensed in another state, you will need to choose another school.
  • No professional development courses: The school is missing the variety of additional classes that other real estate schools offer, such as classes for experienced agents, mortgage brokers, and home inspection classes.
  • No online chat: There’s no online chat option, and the school doesn’t have weekend hours, so you may not be able to get an immediate answer to your question.

Available Courses

The Idaho Real Estate School offers pre-licensing real estate agent courses, pre-licensing real estate broker classes, and post-licensing and continuing education classes. It doesn’t offer any exam prep, professional development, or additional courses such as mortgage or appraisal classes. In Idaho, post-licensing and continuing education classes are required for agents and brokers. The first time you renew your license, you take post-licensing courses, and each subsequent renewal, you take continuing education classes.

Salesperson Pre-Licensing

The Idaho Real Estate School offers pre-licensing classes online and at its Boise, Idaho, location. Both class formats are the same price: $649. Daytime and evening classes are available and schedules are posted on the school’s website. A total of 90 hours is required to be eligible to take your Idaho real estate exam. The 90 hours are broken up into two modules, taken one at a time.

The first salesperson pre-licensing module is focused on real estate principles. Real estate terminology and fundamental concepts are reviewed. In the second module, you will expand on this knowledge and learn about practical aspects of real estate. Topics such as listings, selling, real estate valuations, and closing transactions are all covered.

The goal of both courses is to provide students with information to pass the exam and help their future clients. Students should have basic skills to help buyers and sellers in real estate transactions upon completing the course.

Continuing Education

Continuing education classes are available individually or as a package. Post-licensing classes are required before renewing your agent’s or broker’s license for the first time. Individual classes typically range from $19 to $69, and the packages range from $109 to $149.

Core subjects and electives are required. Some of the available topics include ethics, commercial real estate, and short sales. Idaho Real Estate School has a large variety of continuing education class topics and some additional ones include short sales, real estate finance, veterans, and working with home buyers.

These courses are designed to increase your knowledge and keep you up to date on relevant industry topics and law changes. In addition to Idaho continuing education classes, the school offers continuing education classes online for Washington real estate agents.

Note

Idaho real estate licenses need to be renewed every two years. Prior to each license renewal, 19 hours of continuing education must be completed, which includes seven core hours and 12 elective hours.

Course Format

The Idaho Real Estate School has resumed its in-person classes. It offers all pre-licensing courses live-online through Zoom or in-person at the Boise, Idaho, campus. Day and night classes are available. All courses include class materials such as workbooks and textbooks. Continuing education classes are also offered livestream and in-person but are also offered online at your own pace so you can complete them at your convenience.

Pre-licensing courses consist of two modules, which are 45 hours each and meet the Idaho real estate 90-hour requirement. Students will learn from experienced instructors in a dynamic, engaging format with time for questions and reviews. Subjects include real estate agency, law, contracts, and math.

Instructors

All instructors at the Idaho Real Estate School must be currently working in some capacity in the real estate industry. Each instructor has a detailed bio on the website. Instructors will also be available to support students throughout their schooling. Instructors' backgrounds vary but one is a member of the Idaho Association of Realtors and owns his own brokerage. Another instructor specializes in real estate marketing, and a third instructor has multiple degrees and co-owns a residential cleaning business.

Reputation

The Idaho Real Estate School is well known throughout Idaho, and its website says it’s the largest school in the state. Testimonials on its site are positive, and students rave about their instructors and the knowledge that they picked up in class. However, the school isn’t accredited by IDECC or ARELLO, which means it didn’t meet either of the institutions' strict accreditation standards.

Price

The Idaho Real Estate School doesn’t offer tiered packages for its pre-licensing classes, unlike most other real estate schools that do offer class packages. All of its agent pre-licensing courses are priced at $649. Broker pre-licensing courses are offered individually and cost $350 per class. Post-licensing and continuing education classes start at $19 for an individual class and go up to $149 for a package.

Customer Service

You can reach customer service at the Idaho Real Estate School through a contact form on their website www.idahorealestateschool.com or by phone at (208) 377-4300. The school is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MDT. It's closed on weekends and holidays.

Competition: Idaho Real Estate School vs. The CE Shop

The CE Shop is an online real estate school that specializes in continuing education classes. In fact, the 'CE' in its name stands for continuing education. It offers a vast selection of courses in all 50 states. Additionally, it offers exam prep and pre-licensing courses in some states. It has an up-to-date website, positive student reviews, and is ARELLO-accredited. It also has an online chat feature that makes it easy for students to get in touch with the school.

We are comparing The CE Shop with the Idaho Real Estate School because both schools offer multiple choices of continuing education classes online for Idaho real estate agents and brokers. However, The CE Shop doesn’t offer pre-licensing classes in Idaho. It does offer exam prep classes, which the Idaho Real Estate School doesn’t offer. If you need to take pre-licensing classes, we recommend choosing Idaho Real Estate School, but for continuing education, post-licensing, or exam prep classes in Idaho, we recommend choosing The CE Shop.

Final Verdict

The Idaho Real Estate School is a reasonable option for students who want to become real estate agents in Idaho. It’s also good for agents who want to become brokers in the state. The school has several positive things going for it including its easy-to-use website, varying class times and formats, and student resources. However, it doesn’t have a mobile app or online chat. Additionally, it isn’t certified by ARELLO or IDECC and it only offers pre-licensing classes in one state. All of those are things to consider when choosing the real estate school that will be best suited for your needs.

Our Methodology: How We Review Real Estate Schools

We researched and analyzed numerous facets of each real estate school with a quantitative approach in mind. Some of the elements considered include costs of the classes, course formats, accreditation, and former student reviews. We also look at the overall reputation of the provider, geographic areas where the courses are available, and instructor qualifications. Additionally, we assess how easy it is to navigate the website and whether it includes additional student resources such as blogs, webinars, and career tips.
