Data from the latest Canadian census, conducted in 2016, is now being released, and the information shows some interesting demographic and financial changes for Canada. While the population of the country continues to grow, at 35.2 million people, Canada is only about 11% the size of the U.S.
Households in Canada continue to evolve and change in response to forces ranging from globalization to the erosion of traditional pension programs. Today, fewer couples in Canada are having children, while a growing number of adult children are moving their elderly parents in with them. And debt levels throughout the country continue to rise on items ranging from mortgages to credit cards.
