Jen Smith has been a full-time personal finance writer since 2018. After growing up with no personal finance education at home or in school, Jen learned firsthand the value of increasing her income, becoming debt-free and investing for retirement.
Since paying off $78,000 of debt in two years without a six-figure income she's been teaching others how to navigate student loans, pay off debt faster, and become comfortable with investing through her website, Modern Frugality, and episodes of the Frugal Friends Podcast.
Jen is the author of three books: The No-Spend Challenge Guide, Meal Planning on a Budget, and Pay off Your Debt for Good. Her seasonal course, 5 Weeks to $500, has helped hundreds of students take control of their spending habits to free up more cash to pay off debt and invest.
Jen earned her AA from the University of Central Florida. She earned her BS in Health Sciences and Masters in Integrative Medicine from Florida College of Integrative Medicine.
