Content Integrity and Compliance Manager at Investopedia
Over 5 years of experience in financial products compliance
Marisa is an expert in credit card, insurance, loan product, and checking and saving account regulatory compliance. She has worked with dozens of brands, including AwardWallet, The Points Guy, The Simple Dollar, Million Mile Secrets, Bankrate, and MagnifyMoney to implement compliance best practices.
Marisa kickstarted her compliance career at CreditCards.com after moving over from the oil and gas contract management industry. While at CreditCards.com, she used her expertise to bring its network of over 100 financial bloggers into compliance by keeping a pulse on the quickly changing industry regulations, attending industry-specific training programs and unifying each blogger's editorial goals with compliance requirements. She also helped oversee the Chase, Wells Fargo, and internal affiliate programs monitoring their network of hundreds of publishers.
Prior to joining Investopedia, Marisa was Compliance Manager at Wise Bread. There, she leveraged her international compliance team and implemented around-the-clock monitoring of the site. She streamlined compliance by creating new and efficient auditing procedures, as well as processes for new card and banking updates. In recognition of her efforts, Marisa was invited to speak to BrandVerity's publishers about the importance of compliance.
Marisa joined Investopedia in 2020 to oversee all marketing compliance and content integrity initiatives. She brings a wealth of financial product experience to help protect the best interests of Investopedia's readers. Whether Investopedia’s readers are taking out a student loan, signing up for the latest credit card, a Medicare supplement insurance plan, or buying a life insurance policy, Marisa keeps a close eye on content and holds writers and recommended providers with the utmost accountability.
In addition to making sure all Investopedia documents are in compliance, another key function of Marisa’s role is running all articles through a routine and rigorous fact-checking process, so we can feel confident we’re publishing the most accurate content.
Marisa received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Texas.
