Megan Hanna has extensive experience in finance, banking, and accounting. The majority of her professional career was spent in commercial banking, where she served as an underwriter, commercial banker, credit risk policy manager, chief credit officer, and more. During her banking career, Megan not only analyzed many different types of business and personal loans but also wrote and monitored policies regarding how these loans originated and were managed.
Due to her banking track record, Megan was chosen by her bank CEO to attend Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington, where she earned a graduate-level certificate in banking. Megan is finishing a doctorate in business administration (DBA) with an emphasis in data analytics from Grand Canyon University, where her research is focused on the commercial banking industry. She’s passionate about all things related to finance and accounting, including microfinance in developing countries.
In 2018, Megan and her family returned to their hometown in rural Arizona, after following her career to Colorado, Utah, and Washington. She currently works as an accounting professor and freelance writer. Megan previously served at Fit Small Business as a writer and editor, where she was responsible for writing and managing content related to financing (loans), accounting, taxes, banking, and credit cards.
Megan earned a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in finance from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She also earned a graduate-level certificate in banking at the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration with an emphasis in data analytics from Grand Canyon University. She also serves as a Forensic Accounting & Fraud Examination Program Chair and Accounting Instructor at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
