Experience
Mona’s interest in business and finance began at a young age, inspired by reading the now-defunct magazine Zillions, a children’s version of Consumer Reports published by Consumers Union. She opened her first checking account at age 10 and became enthralled with saving money. Upon getting her first full-time job, however, she realized she didn’t know anything about financial planning or investing and began to educate herself using free online resources.
While working in technology and teaching herself about finance Mona became involved in the online F.I.R.E. (Financial Independence, Retire Early) community. Inspired by the book, The Millionaire Next Door, she started a side-business freelance writing. After two years Mona became a full-time writer. Today she writes about a variety of topics and is especially drawn to those that seek to inform and empower readers.
Education
Mona has a Bachelor’s Degree in Writing, Literature, and Publishing from Emerson College in Boston. She earned her degree in three years while also working at her college’s IT Help Desk.
