After working in a New York bike shop, Michael Salvatore moved back to his native Chicago with the plan for a new hot spot for cyclists like him. Where most stores catered to performance riders, Salvatore, a fifth generation entrepreneur, envisioned a destination for casual, everyday riders to talk shop, get repairs, and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. Heritage Bicycles was born, using the combination of a coffee shop and general store to better engage with his bicycle repair customers. He’s on the uphill climb of an ambitious expansion.
