Tom Barkley is a veteran writer and editor, with a specialty in the global economy, financial markets and the environment.

During 15 years at Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, Tom covered a range of financial markets and policy issues. He helped lead coverage of the 2008 global financial crisis as the Washington bureau’s senior international trade and finance reporter. As a foreign correspondent in Mexico City, he wrote about banking, finance and trade. He also covered global currency and bond markets out of New York.

Tom has also covered environmental issues ranging from lead contamination to climate change, having served as senior policy editor at the Natural Resources Defense Council.
