Biography
Peter Lazaroff is the chief investment officer at Plancorp, which manages over $5.5 billion in client assets. This is his fourth year on the Investopedia 100 list, and the second consecutive year he’s been honored as a top-10 advisor.
Immediately after graduating from college, Peter began working for an independent advisor firm where he studied to become a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP). In 2010, he launched a newsletter with a goal of educating people about investing and financial planning. His writing platform expanded when he began regularly contributing to Forbes and The Wall Street Journal.
In addition to his work with Plancorp, Peter is the chief investment officer of corporate financial wellness provider, BrightPlan. In 2022, Peter started leading the financial planning and investment components of a pilot program run by Invest STL—a real estate company that aims to reduce racial inequity in St. Louis. His work involves developing a financial literacy curriculum for participants, goals-based investment training, and CFP recruiting and training.
Peter is known for taking complex financial strategies and sharing them in easy-to-understand language everyone can apply to improve their wealth and financial habits. His insights are regularly seen around the world on major media platforms like The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CNBC, and The New York Times.
In 2019, Peter published his first book with Wiley & Sons, "Making Money Simple: The Complete Guide to Getting Your Financial House in Order and Keeping It That Way Forever."
