Weichert Real Estate School is a real estate school that is also known as Schools of Real Estate. It provides classes to real estate professionals who are already in the industry and want to further their careers and to those who are new to real estate who want to get their licenses. Courses are offered in 30 states plus Washington, D.C. Some of the states include Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Florida, and California. Types of classes, formats, costs, and schedules vary by state. The school doesn’t offer student resources, frequently asked questions, or professional development classes.  

Pros Explained

• Brand affiliation: You can take classes from a recognizable brand that has offices worldwide and focuses on agent training. It may be convenient to take a class from the brand that you plan to work for. 
• Courses in multiple states: If you want to get your license in multiple states, this is convenient because you can take classes for different states at one school. 
• In-person and online courses: Many states offer options for both in-person and online classes which are beneficial for different learning styles. It’s nice to be able to choose whether you want the classroom experience or prefer a more self-paced approach. 

Cons Explained

• No additional professional classes: The school doesn’t offer courses on other topics such as appraisal or designation classes, so you will have to take any additional courses at another school. 
• Outdated website: Website is lacking resources and is difficult to navigate. It is hard to find information on the site and is a deterrent when choosing a real estate school. 
• Lack of customer support: You can contact customer support through a contact form or leave a message over the phone, but response times are slow and there isn’t an online chat option.  

Available Courses

Weichert Real Estate School offers pre-licensing real estate agent and real estate broker courses, exam prep, and continuing education classes. Pre-licensing classes are required in order to get your salesperson (agent) or broker’s license in whatever state you’re interested in working in. Educational hours do vary by state. 

Exam prep courses aren’t required but are designed to help you prepare for the exam by presenting practice questions and exam templates. Continuing education classes are mandatory before each license renewal period and, once again, hours and topics vary by state. 

Unfortunately, Weichert Real Estate School doesn’t offer professional development courses or courses on other disciplines such as appraisal, property management, or home inspection. 

Salesperson Pre-Licensing

Weichert Real Estate School offers salesperson pre-licensing courses through its own school and through partner schools. Some classes are on campus and some are online. In New Jersey, for example, on-campus classes and online classes are $414 and schedules are listed online with varying times during the week and on Saturdays. On-campus locations are in Hoboken and Morris Plains. Books and shipping of these books are included in the price of the course. The New Jersey pre-licensing course is 75 hours and you can enroll online or over the phone. 

California pre-licensing courses are offered through a partner of Weichert’s called Mbition and these classes are only available online. There are three packages to choose from and each package includes all of the 135 mandatory educational hours as well as digital books. The Silver Solution Package is the basic package and includes the required courses, instructor support, and technical support. It costs $129. The Gold Solution Package includes everything from the Silver Package plus exam prep, help with real estate math, and a pass-the-first-time guarantee. It’s priced at $269. The Platinum Solution Package includes everything from the previous packages plus additional exam prep toolkits and hard copies of the textbooks. It’s priced at $339.

Exam Prep

Weichert Real Estate School offers a variety of exam prep classes through its own site and through its partners. Most exam prep courses are taken online and can be purchased separately or in a pre-licensing package. Prices vary by state. In California, exam prep packages range from $79 to $129 and are offered in self-paced online formats. 

There are question banks with over 1,000 questions and testing and training modes. There is also feedback reporting which tells you which sections you need more practice on before the final exam. This can help you narrow down what you should spend extra time studying.  

Continuing Education

Similar to exam prep classes offered by Weichert Real Estate School, continuing education classes are also offered in multiple states in different formats by both Weichert and its partner schools. Continuing education is listed under the Real Estate Professionals part of the website and can then be searched by state. New Jersey continuing education classes are offered by a partner school, Mbition, and can be purchased individually starting at $29 or in a package for $89. The packages contain 12 hours of classes on topics such as commercial sales, ethics, fair housing, safety, prequalification, and tax advantages of home ownership. 

Course Format

Courses at Weichert Real Estate School are offered online in a self-paced format, live-online, and on-campus. There are so many different formats because courses are offered by Weichert as well as by its partner schools in some states. All courses meet the state’s educational requirements for that subject. Course formats vary by state. Some states offer courses individually and others have package deals. Pre-licensing courses generally include chapter reviews, practice questions, real estate laws in your state, and real estate terms and definitions. All courses include the required material and some are in digital form and others are hard-copy textbooks. 

In New Jersey, the pre-licensing courses include topics such as New Jersey laws, the Real Estate Commission, Fair Housing Laws, real estate valuation, and basic real estate math. 

Instructors

The instructors at Weichert Real Estate School have experience working in the education and real estate industries. They are available to help students during class and once class ends to guide them in their careers. However, there aren’t instructor bios on the school’s website, so students don’t get to see their highlights. Once you enroll in a course, you will get access to instructor contact information and their availability. 

Reputation

Weichert Real Estate School has a long history of providing real estate classes to students. However, because of its outdated website, various different schools under the same or similar names, and using partner schools for most classes, it hasn’t built up much of an online presence or reputation. Additionally, it isn’t accredited by ARELLO or IDECC, which means that it didn’t meet the strict accreditation requirements of either institution.

Pricing varies greatly between states. For example, New Jersey pre-licensing classes are $414 and California pre-licensing packages range from $129 to $339. Exam prep courses are priced from $79 to $129 and are offered by a partner school for California real estate agents. No New Jersey exam prep classes are offered by Weichert Real Estate School but it does say more online classes are coming soon. Continuing education classes are competitively priced. Individual classes start at $29 in New Jersey and packages are $89. California continuing education packages range from $79 to $129.

Competition: Weichert Real Estate School vs. Real Estate Express

Real Estate Express is an online real estate school that teaches classes in two formats: live-online and self-paced online. lt is part of a large real estate education group of companies called McKissock. It offers pre-licensing courses in 34 states and continuing education classes through its partners in all 50 states but doesn’t have any on-campus locations. 

We decided to compare Real Estate Express with Weichert Real Estate School because both schools offer pre-licensing, exam prep, and continuing education classes online in multiple states including New Jersey and California. However, Weichert Real Estate School also offers some on-campus locations, but Real Estate Express is easy to get in contact with, has online chat, and loads of student resources. Additionally, Real Estate Express is accredited by IDECC and ARELLO and has positive student reviews. Overall, Real Estate Express is the more well-rounded choice.
